Feeding the Hungry Could Cost Us Nothing

If the money a needy person receives from the government is only used for food manufactured in the US, it simply goes back into circulation, is taxed over and over, creating more useable money for the needy.

The real cost of feeding the poor is what the government spends to collect and dole out the money it gives to the needy.  Even that cost is somewhat absorbed by being spent back into the economy.

It only costs us if the money goes out of the country.

Some people presently convert their food assistance on the street for about 50% face value for cash to buy drugs, booze, and tobacco, but that would actually be a small percentage if we limit purchases to basic, domestic food items.
