A politician has a dual role. They have to be a leader for the sheep, and a public servant for the thinking people. What to do? Since there are many more sheep, a politician takes the role of thinking for them. A case in point is Bush thinking that he should veto stem cell research because he personally doesn't believe in it. Why, when we are at war with religious fanatics around the world, do we elect a religious fanatic that tries to force his beliefs on the majority of people? I have favored the Republican party for many years, but I can no longer vote for people that try to force us into becoming a third-world country. If those that speak for God would just shut up and listen . . . |
