An Accepted Form Of Thievery? |
|
There are websites that offer ways to unlock programs to avoid registering and paying for them. At first, it seems that this is stealing. Actually, it really isn't. It's good for everybody. The producer of the program can only force businesses with employees to pay for a program. The business can't afford to risk being turned in by a disgruntled employee. They have to pay. The people that download a trial program and "illegally" unlock it for their own personal use don't actually cost the producer anything. If the program is any good, and the user becomes proficient at using it, they become a "word of mouth" salesperson for the program. Their resume lists another talent, and they could encourage an employer to buy the program. This is one of those times when stealing is an apparent win-win situation. Are the sites like CrackSpider trustworthy? I don't know. The few "cracks" I've checked worked with no apparent harmful side effects. Any thoughts out there? |
