Using Cell Phones While Driving |
|
I don't care if it is distracting. I lean more toward society developing their minds to a level where they "can talk and chew gum" at the same time. People that aren't problem solvers tend to want to make everything illegal because they can't think of a sensible way to solve a problem. WE CAN'T OUTLAW EVERYTHING. Even though some people keep trying to solve all of our problems that way. There is a reason that talking on a phone is more distracting than talking to a passenger in the front seat. People instinctively use a trick that all herd animals use; they watch for each other. When a driver turns to talk to a passenger, the passenger's eyes instinctively divert toward the street. Then when the driver looks back to the road, the passenger looks back at the driver. This continues throughout a conversation. It help to compensate for the driver's momentary inattention. When people talk on the phone, their minds tend to "look away" even if their eyes don't. They don't realize that their passenger isn't covering for them. As they develop an awareness as to what is happening, they will learn how to talk and drive. How will they develop this awareness? Have them read this. That's all it takes to begin developing a higher awareness level. All a person has to know is what is happening and they can adapt as quickly as snapping their finger. |
